Appraisal Document Process
A written jewelry appraisal is a printed document stating the value of a jewelry item in a personal estate collection. At S.E. Needham Jewelers in both Logan and Brigham City, we offer comprehensive written appraisals conducted by our GIA certified expert, Gene Needham. A jewelry appraisal costs $150 for the first item and $80 for every additional item.
If you're considering getting your jewelry officially appraised, the process is straightforward – no appointment necessary. Simply drop off your items during business hours, we will give you a claim ticket for your items. Gene Needham will assess various factors, including the metal composition, carat weight of diamonds by shape, and estimated replacement value. This evaluation takes about 5-7 business days. These detailed written appraisals are useful for insurance purposes, estate planning and providing clarity on the value of the jewelry piece.
Newly purchased items will receive a complimentary appraisal within 6 months of the purchase upon request.
Cash Evaluation Process
We purchase estate jewelry for resale and pre-worn jewelry for gold meltdown value. We do not often purchase silver or industrial metal items, however the items can always be evaluated. A cash evaluation is free of charge and a quote will be agreed upon after the evaluation.
Step 1: Drop Off Your Items
No appointment necessary! Simply drop off your gold and jewelry items at S.E. Needham Jewelers for evaluation. Our experienced sales associates will assist you in completing the necessary paperwork and provide you with a receipt for your items.
Step 2: Evaluation Process
Once your items are dropped off, they undergo a thorough evaluation process conducted by our in-house GIA Certified expert, Gene Needham. We assess factors such as gold purity, stone condition, and craftsmanship to determine the repurpose value of your items.
Step 3: Wait for Assessment
After dropping off your items, please allow approximately 2-3 business days for the evaluation to be completed. During this time, our team meticulously examines each piece to ensure accurate and fair valuations.
Step 4: Receive Your Valuations
Once the evaluation is complete, a sales associate will contact you to discuss the results. You'll receive two different values: cash and trade-in. Let's delve into the details of each option:
- Cash Option: If you choose the cash option, you'll receive payment via check for the determined cash value of your items. This provides immediate liquidity, allowing you to use the funds as desired.
- Trade-In Option: Opting for the trade-in option offers you a slightly higher value in the form of store credit. This credit can be applied towards the purchase of jewelry from Gene Needham Jewelers, typically amounting to about 40-50% more than the cash value. It's a great way to upgrade your jewelry collection and maximize your investment.
Step 5: Make Your Decision
Review the valuations provided and decide which option best suits your needs and preferences. Whether you prefer cash, through the form of a check printed weekly, or enhanced purchasing power with trade-in credit, S.E. Needham Jewelers ensures transparency and reliability throughout the evaluation process, empowering you to make informed decisions about your investments.
